Halloween is quickly approaching, and we know some of you are planning some amazing and intricate costumes for the holiday. As you start preparing, there are some things we’d like you to keep in mind!

All Contact Lenses are categorized as Medical Devices by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and a require a prescription from a Licensed Practitioner. Even if they are colored contacts or costume contacts for Halloween.

1 in 10 Americans have worn some type of cosmetic contact lens, whether it be colored contacts or costume contacts for special occasions like Halloween.*

We know that only 50% of people who have worn colored or costume contact lenses have purchased them from a certified vendor. There are a lot of vendors like beauty supply stores, costume stores, and even online vendors that are illegally selling costume and colored contact lenses.

If contact lenses are mishandled, there is a risk of eye infections that could even lead to blindness. If you have never worn contact lenses, it is vital to be trained for the proper insertion, removal and care for contact lenses. A licensed practitioner will be able to find the right type of contact lens to fit your eyes. Not all contact lenses will fit on everyone.
